Sight Singing & Ear Training
Do you want to read music? Do you need to read music? Are you a musician who has a great ear and you’re ready to take your skills to the next level? Do you want to get into the elite choir at your school? Are you tired of paying for your voice teacher to teach you the notes of your songs? Are you expected to sightread music for your musical theater call back, but end up loosing the role because you can’t learn the song fast enough? Do you want to major in music in college? Do you want to participate in PMEA through your high school?
What if we could teach you to sing the music on the page in front you? What if those dots and lines actually made sense? What if we could teach you how to decode what has eluded you of so long? Fear not! Come to our Sight Singing & Ear Training course and start from the beginning! Learn to sing music just by looking at it. Learn about rhythms, keys, intervals and chords. Learn how to read music like you read English! It can be that simple.
What most people and even musicians forget is that music is a language. No one is born knowing how to make, read or write music. We are taught through listening how to create our own sounds. We collect tones and phrases like a database and repeat them back, but we have to learn how to translate what we see on the page into what it should sound like. If you want to hear what you see in the music, this is the class for you!
Our Sighting Singing & Ear Training Classes are based around the Kodaly method which uses aural association of major and minor intervals to perform written music vocally with no accompaniment. The Kodaly method also uses muscle memory through hand signals to associate intervals internally. This technique has proven incredibly effective with all over the world and with all age groups.
